Day 63a: Lake View (BBW63 Lung/Lough Gara Way: Ballaghaderreen-???Sligo???)

The longest of the routes Jimmy Coogin showed me yesterday involved a 12km stretch to reach a town 6km from Ballaghaderreen, but that route was also closest to what will eventually be the “proper” route and follows much more pedestrian friendly roads than the direct route, so. Round about we went. Fortunately the route was also fairly pretty.

Some very well appointed scarecrows maybe they have a barbershop trio to sing “If I only had a head”

Lake views! Here they are!

Did you know that lavender has a thing called bracts? That is my favorite word right now. BRACTS

I stopped obsessively photographing every overgrown derelict house because there were so many but this one was impressive enough to remotivate me

I think I might be walking over that tomorrow wooooo (ahhhhh)

It was shortly after I came in view of the mountain above (which I think may be rumored to contain Queen Mebh’s tomb??? In which case I better watch out for the gentry tomorrow) that I finally reached the spot I had been thinking to maybe take lunch since my little drive with Jimmy Coogin yesterday… (more in next post)
